Description
Potassium sorbate is the potassium salt of sorbic acid. It is colourless or white scaly crystals or crystalline powder. Potassium sorbate and sorbic acid are commonly used organic preservatives that are easily absorbed and metabolised by the body, with no residues in the body, non-toxic, and are GRAS grade (Generally Regarded As Safe). Its antimicrobial activity is about 74% of sorbic acid, which can inhibit the reproduction of many microorganisms such as moulds, aerobic bacteria, yeast activity, etc., and the inhibition of development is stronger than the bactericidal effect.

1. Food industry
Widely used in food, such as pasta products, sauces, canned food, dried fruit products, dairy products, spices and other permitted to use, the concentration of 0.02% - 0.1%.
