What is an o-ring?
An o-ring is a simple and versatile ring-shaped packing or sealing device with a circular cross section (from which the “O” in its name is derived). The purpose of using O-ring seals is to prevent leakage and loss of liquids or gases. They simplicity, convenience, and small installation space. As long as the groove design and material selection are correct, and the operating conditions are within the temperature range of the rubber material, the seal can have a long-term sealing effect in the static or dynamic seal.

Fluoroelastomers provide additional heat and chemical resistance. Vitons is used because it has a lower probability of catching fire, even with the increased percentages of oxygen found in nitrox. It is also less susceptible to decay under increased oxygen conditions.

Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPM, EPDM) Oring
*Service Temperature
-55 C to 125 C or up to 150 C (for peroxide cured systems).

In phosphate-ester based hydraulic fluids and glycol based brake fluids systems Ethylene Propylene Rubber is good choice for sealing parts. EPDM is also is usually used in hot water or steam applications up to 150 C.
PU/Polyurethane o ring

-45 to 120 °C
*Application
PU displays higher mechanical strength, high abrasion, wear and extrusion resistance, high pressure load capacity, as well as a high tear and elongation at break resistance. PU is suitable for for application in mineral oils and greases, hydraulic oils, silicone oils and greases, highly non-flammable hydraulic fluids HFA and HFB and water uo to 50℃.
HNBR(Hydrogenated Nitrile Butadiene) O Ring
Temperature Range: -30℃/-40F-160℃/302F
