Product Features

The retroscaler2x is a converter that can accept 240p/480i/288p/576i ntsc/pal sources to 480p/576p hd compatible outputs (480p to ntsc, 576p to pal). For example, 240p signals are properly supported, allowing full progressive linedouble at 480p. The 480i signal is deinterlaced and dubbed in 480p equivalent. Keep in mind that this device can only output resolutions up to 480p/576p.

Zero Latency:

The retroscaler2x is a zero-latency device that has been validated with many different measurements and devices.

Compatible area:

Both ntsc and pal signals are supported, but they are not converted to each other. This means you can connect any signal that the target device is compatible with, but ntsc may not work on hdmi pal compatible devices and vice versa.

Filter mode:

fil mode is purely based on preference, but the average retro gamer prefers to turn fil mode off for 2d games (for snes, genesis, etc.) and 3d games (n64, saturn, etc.). Additionally, fil mode can help reduce flickering in some 480i-only games.

It's not something you're likely to notice on your TV speakers, though if you have an external amplifier or home theater system you might. In this case, of course, positioning the audio around the retroscaler2x is usually pretty easy anyway.
