The working principle of PSA pressure swing adsorption nitrogen generator is to use carbon molecular sieves as adsorbents, and use the principles of pressurized adsorption and depressurization desorption to adsorb and release oxygen from the air, thus separating the automation equipment of nitrogen. Carbon molecular sieve is a columnar granular adsorbent made from coal as the main raw material through grinding, oxidation, molding, carbonization, and special pore treatment process. The surface and interior are covered with micropores, and the pore distribution is shown in the following figure. The pore size distribution characteristics of carbon molecular sieve enable it to complete the dynamic separation of O2 and N2. This pore size dispersion allows different gases to disperse into the micropores of the molecular sieve at different rates without squeezing any gas in the mixture (air). The separation effect of carbon molecular sieves on O2 and N2 is based on the small differences in the kinetic diameters of these two gases. The kinetic diameter of O2 molecules is smaller, resulting in a faster dispersion rate in the micropores of carbon molecular sieves. The kinetic diameter of N2 molecules is larger, resulting in a slower dispersion rate. The dispersion of water and CO2 in compressed air is not significantly different from that of oxygen, while argon dispersion is slower. Ultimately, the enriched gas from the adsorption tower is a mixture of N2 and Ar.

Nitrogen gas has a wide range of applications, the main use of high-purity nitrogen: fertilizers, ammonia, nitric acid and othercompounds, the manufacture of inert protective media, frozen food, low-temperature crushing, such as refrigerants, coolants, the electronics industry, epitaxial, diffusion, chemical vapor deposition, ion implantation, plasma dry-engraving, photolithography, and so on, but also used as a standard gas, calibration gas, zero gas, balancing gas, and so on.
