Guitar pickup specialists
We mainly manufacture Plain, heavy Formvar insulation and poly insulation wire, for the
simple reason that they just sound best to our ears.
The thickness of the wire is usually measured in AWG, which stands for American Wire Gauge. In guitar pickups, 42 AWG is the one
that’s most commonly used. But wire-types measuring from 41 to 44 AWG are all being used in the construction of guitar pickups.

One popular vintage-style insulation is Heavy Formvar, which was used on old Strats and on some Jazz Bass pickups. But what the insulation vintage buffs know best is plain insulation, with its blackish-purple coating.
Plain wire was common in the ’50s and into the ’60s before the new insulation had been invented.
