It is highly sought after and compared to other stones like limestone, onyx, travertine and others; marble is held as the most durable. This is the reason it continues to be a popular choice for many home remodeling projects.

Marble Powder

Our white Marble Dust is the finest grind available. Marble Dust or Flour is used in grounds and is often added to oil paints for textural and handling qualities without perceptibly changing the tint. Used for the Fresco Intonaco layer, also polished lime plasters and faux marbles. Although sharing the same chemical composition as Chalk Whiting, Marble Dust is very different in its crystalline structure. Because it was formed under great metamorphic pressure, Marble Dust is purer, harder, denser and less absorbent than Chalk Whiting. This makes it ideal for certain applications where hardness and polish are desired.

Uses:
Art Materials and fillers
Art reproductions and restoration
Filler in concrete and painting
Carbonic Acid Gas for filling beverages

Factory and Process

Overview

Mining marble rock is a lengthy and highly technical process. To give our customers a better understanding of this process we have simplified it into a few steps below.

1. Marble Quarrying

Marble rock is composed of calcium-magnesium carbonate. Due to high pressure and heat the rock recrystallizes to form this beautiful calcium-rich rock. Some marbles can also consist of Lime or magnesia silicate minerals. Searching for the perfect quarry takes years of careful planning, testing and investigation by qualified geologists and geophysicists.

2. Blasting

Marble quarrying is a multistage process where we extract the marble rock from the quarry ground. Quarry blasting is the next step in this process. This uses careful blasting techniques with explosive material processed through a blasting compressor machine. After this blasting process the rock is separated from the quarry floor.

3. Extracting

Marble is a very hard stone and therefore needs to be extracted through wire saw, chain saw or diamond wire saw. In this process the saw leaves a cut between the blocks. The advanced equipment we use enables us to cut both vertically and horizontally whether the rock is wet or dry. A very technical system is used during the cutting process to ensure each rock is preserved and cut to the perfect specifications and size.

4. Spacing between the blocks

Air pressure is used as the final step between the blocks after the cutting. It creates a super strong force against the blocks which separates the blocks.

5. Transportation

After the blocks are prepared they are lifted and loaded using heavy lifting equipment, mobile and stable cranes and loaded onto the trucks.

6. Factory Processing

Once the blocks are at the factory raw marble stone blocks are kept in very specific storage conditions until selected by the customers. Once selected the blocks are converted by the gang saw into the exact dimensions and thickness required by the customer. In the finishing area the slab is laid face down and a machine with a diamond-encrusted abrasive pad grinds down the slab surface until it is smooth. A uniform coat of epoxy sealer is sprayed onto the surface and leaves it to dry for 48 hrs. This process is repeated on the other side and then ready to be shipped to our customers.
