Application

Continuous injection of pieces of candied fruit, fresh fruit, or free-flowing granulates like chocolate, nuts and nougat into ice cream or similar products. It should be noted that ingredients which are sticky or sensitive to humidity or have a tendency to clump may not be suitable for dosing.

Description

The SNOWBALL SFF 2000 ingredient feeder is designed for connection to freezers having a capacity from 150 to 2000 l/h. (39-528 US Gal./h).

The unit includes a lamella feed pump for the gentle and efficient injection of ingredients into the ice cream.

The motors driving the dosing screw, and the lamella pump are controlled through potentio-meters to provide suitable adjustment. The inline mixer always runs at the nominal speed, in order to achieve better distribution of the ingredients into the ice cream. The machine is built completely in stainless steel for efficient cleaning and includes a control panel for all functions.

The SNOWBALL SFF 2000 is a compact machine mounted on castors for easy conveyance.

Working Principle

The ingredient feeder consists of two main units, separately driven:

Hopper and dosing screw

The hopper is equipped with an agitator which ensures a constant supply of ingredients to the screw mounted at the bottom of the hopper. The dosing screw meters the ingredients into the inlet of the feed pump. The speed of the screw is stepless variable from 0 to 100%.

Lamella feed pump

The feed pump consists of a lamella feed-wheel where the lamellas form the cavities by means of which the ingredients are drawn into the ice cream stream coming from the continuous freezer. The lamellas provide the sealing between the ambient and the ice cream. Once the lamellas reach the ice cream stream during the rotation of the feed wheel, the lamellas are retracted into the wheel thereby leaving the ingredients in the ice cream. The speed of the wheel is stepless variable by means of a potentiometer controlling the main motor.

Further mixing is carried out by the in-line mixer.

CIP

Via the control panel the operator can activate the automatic CIP programme whereby the feed pump and mixer will be started at pre-set intervals. Agitator and dosing screw are easily dismantled for manual cleaning. (For some ingredients manual cleaning of the feed pump and in-line mixer may be necessary).
