Tungsten bar features.

 Pure tungsten is a light gray or whitish metal that is soft enough to be cut with a hacksaw and ductile enough to be drawn into wire or extruded into various shapes. If contaminated with other materials, tungsten becomes brittle and difficult to work with. Tungsten has the highest melting point of all metallic elements and is used to make filaments for incandescent light bulbs, fluorescent light bulbs and television tubes. Tungsten expands at nearly the same rate as borosilicate glass and is used to make metal to glass seals. Tungsten is also used as a target for X-ray production, as heating elements in electric furnaces and for parts of spacecraft and missiles which must withstand high temperatures.

Tungsten is alloyed with steel to form tough metals that are stable at high temperatures. Tungsten-steel alloys are used to make such things as high speed cutting tools and rocket engine nozzles.

Tungsten has about the same electrical conductivity and resistivity, coefficient of thermal expansion, and about the same resistance to corrosion by mineral acids as molybdenum.  Tungsten is high strength at temperatures above 2,000°F, but because the melting point is higher, it retains significant strength at higher temperatures. The elastic modulus for tungsten is about 25% higher than that of molybdenum, and its density is almost twice that of molybdenum. All commercial unalloyed tungsten is produced by powder-metallurgy methods; it is available as rod, wire, plate, sheet, and some forged shapes. For some special applications, vacuum-arc-melted tungsten can be produced, but it is expensive and limited to relatively small sections. 

Application

Tungsten bars have 99.95% purity 3410 melting point and 19.3g/cm3 density . 

Typical Applications include weights and counterbalances for aircraft control surfaces and rotor blades, guidance platforms, counterbalances for fly wheels, turbines and engine crankshafts, vibration damping governors, filaments, and fuse masses.  Other applications include radiation shielding, gyro rotors, weapons including armor piercing applications, and high temperature tooling.
