Beta-carotene (C40H56) is one of the carotenoids and an orange-soluble fat-soluble compound. It is the most common and stable natural pigment in nature. Many natural foods such as green vegetables, sweet potatoes, carrots, spinach, papaya, mango, etc., are rich in beta-carotene.
Beta-carotene can be converted to vitamin A after entering the body. Excessive intake of vitamin A in the body can cause poisoning, and the body converts beta-carotene to vitamin A only when needed. This feature makes β-carotene a safe source of vitamin A, and there is no cumulative poisoning of vitamin A due to overfeeding.
