Kebun Kota was established in 2010 when our founders, an engineer-architect couple, decided to rehabilitate a 5-hectare quarry brownfield in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia, to a fertile perma-aquaculture farm. We were officially incorporated on 22nd May 2012, with a mission of contributing to local food security as well as to promote sustainable agriculture practices based on the concept of circular economy and zero-waste.
In 2017, we began to cultivate Sacha Inchi, a high-value plant native to the Peruvian Amazon and after a series of R&D, we finally launched our Sacha Inchi line of products in 2019. Our Sacha Inchi plant is certified with the Malaysian Good Agricultural Practices (myGAP) for Crops and the oil is manufactured through cold-pressing of carefully and thoughtfully selected Sacha Inchi seeds, following the food safety and quality standards under the Makanan Selamat Tanggungjawab Industri (MeSTI) certification that is closely monitored by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.
We have also manufactured products such as kombucha, peanut butter and jams using ingredients harvested from our farm.
