The Sciare di Est range includes this varietal Catarratto, a wine of delicate orange-blossom scent from vineyards on the east side of the Volcano, 600 metres (1970 feet) above sea level.

Our Company

Authentic personality
Etna over five generation

For over a century, our family has passed on the secrets of the Etnean viticulture and enology,
from generation to generation.

Producing wine is our way to tell the story of a unique territory in Sicily,
of vines that have their roots in the lava rock, of hands that cu
ltivate them with constant dedication.

We are Antichi Vinai – literally ancient vintners, but we look to the future,
constantly engaged in the enological research, always respecting our tradition.

Our Advantages

ETNA DOC
Certificates

Our core business is the Volcano, production center of
the Gangemi family since 1877

Faithful to
tradition

We cultivate exclusively indigenous varieties, proposing researched blends that make the wine rich and long-lived

The experience of five generations
nearly a hundred and fifty years of authentic 'ancient vintners'

The Volcano

Etna has always been part of our lives... we wouldn’t know how to live without it.

It is an “Enological continent” of rare beauty, and thanks to its volcanic soils we produce wine with very peculiar characteristics.

The viticultural production stretches on
every side of the Etna DOC area, varying by altitude, temperature range, and exposure.

Each volcanic slope and district have its
own microclimate: we study and combine them to ensure high quality wines.

“Heroic” viticulture
That is how work on our land is described, due to the characteristic steep terraces surrounded by dry-stone walls that prevent us from using machinery for vineyard operations.

The vines grow at altitudes between 400 and 1000 metres above sea level, which is unique in DOC production worldwide. In a zone where Mediterranean and mountain climates meet, the vines survive a temperature range varying by as much as 30˚ on summer nights.

This climatic characteristic makes Etna an island within the island of Sicily, following its own rules for the harvest and for the care of grapes that are often threatened by rain and hail.
