Camlock coupling are common hose fitting connectors. It conserves energy and are easy to connect/disconnect without the use of hand tools, for thousands of purposes where products are transfered by pipe or hoses, like brewing, chemical, mining,fertilizer, petroleum, steel plants, power plant and pneumatic tools. These are widely used in engineering and automobile industry.

 

Camlocks are designed with arms on the female fittings and adapters and an internal gasket for sealing. A male and female camlock coupling is put together and a seal is created when the arms are pushed to the side and locked in place. This forces the male camlock coupling against the gasket in the female and a tight seal is formed.

 

Various camlock coupling adapters are designed to connect camlocks with other types of connections. A type A camlock adapter, type B, type D and type F are all designed with one cam and groove end, and one pipe thread end. This allows the common camlock coupling to be attached to the more common pipe thread fitting, whether it is two hoses that are being connected or a hose to a machine or fluid discharge area.

 

Camlock couplings are manufactured in various materials including stainless steel, polypropylene, aluminium, brass etc. The type of application the fitting or hose is going to be used for will determine the material type required. The most common camlock coupling material type is stainless steel. The same applies to the gasket material on a female camlock coupling. Gasket may be teflon, silica, viton, buna etc.
