The story of Cantina Cerretano began in the early 1900s, when Domenico Cerretano started trading in wines. Armed with patience and passion, he travelled around Abruzzo on a traino, offering wines from his beloved land. Their son Antonio inherited the skills of both parents, so much so that in the 1950s he founded La Cantina Cerretano and implemented new vineyards.
From then on, the production of grapes and wines developed exponentially. In recent years, the company has decided on a decidedly "organic" turn of events. The vineyards are certified organic and the production of organic wine (harvest 2014) is underway. In addition, no animal-derived products are used in the entire grape growing and wine production process, so all Cerretano wines can be consumed by allergy sufferers as well as Vegetarians and Vegans.

Food Pairing | Excellent served with meat dishes with a strong flavour such as roasts, game, salami and mixed grills. At the end of a meal it can be served with hard, mature cheeses. |
Wine-making process | The technique used is the result of a protocol exclusive to the Cerretano Winery. The protocol calls for half of the grapes used to be vinified in red with selected yeasts, maceration for 6/8 days at temperatures ranging from 24-26° C to favour the extraction of the colouring substance contained in the skin of the grapes. Malolactic fermentation: yes, just after racking. The remaining half is vinified with a skin maceration of only 24 hours and treated as a white wine process. Ageing: yes, in cement tanks for at least 6 months. Average life of the wine: 4/5 years. |
