Fernando Castro Wineries has been present in the Spanish territory since 1850, becoming the oldest family owned winery in Castile-La Mancha. In 1895, it opened up to new international markets thanks to the well-known "Wine Train", and later through its own transport network.

With an unbeatable geographical location, in the nerve centre of the Valdepenas Denomination of Origin, this location has facilitated the expansion of its market to more than 70 countries.

Its 380 hectares of vineyards, located around the Finca Los Altos, are personally supervised by the Castro family, with the invaluable support of great professionals who contribute to the production, elaboration, ageing and marketing of its wines, with modern, comfortable and functional facilities.

Fernando Castro Wineries specialises in grape varieties that tolerate heat, drought and frost. Among them, the Tempranillo variety stands out, the most representative among the red wines.

The growth of the winery, with its three production plants, demonstrates the high potential of this company. With over 20 000 m2, Bodegas Fernando Castro has 4 bottling plants for still wines, 2 bag-in-box packing plants, a bottling plant for sparkling wines, controlled temperature areas for ageing with 7.000 barrels capacity and logistic area for a 6 million bottles capacity.

Fernando Castro Wineries works in the management of the quality of the wines. We have quality certifications of Denomination of Origin Valdepenas, Denomination of Origin La Mancha, Tierra de Castilla, organic wines, vegan, Halal, BRC and IFS.

The winery combines the essence of the winemaking tradition with the latest technologies. The entire production process is led by a team of highly qualified professionals, who exhaustively control: the vegetative cycle of the vineyard, the harvest, the winemaking process and even the use of different types of oak in the barrels for the wines to be aged.

From our vineyards to our facilities, we follow a process of monitoring and continuous evolution to minimise the impact on the environment.

We have been involved in a carbon footprint reduction project for some years now, promoted by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge. We are committed to reducing gas emissions.
