How to choose the right PDC drill bit?
What is the diameter of hole do you want to drill ? Then we can know which item drill bit is suitable you. 
What is the layer do you want to drill ? Then we can know which PDC tip is right for you. 

According to the formation lithology data, hydraulic and drilling parameters, select the appropriate type of drill bit. Select the corresponding nozzle according to the hydraulic parameters, and the size difference of the nozzle hole should not be too large to avoid erosion of the flow channel. Before the drill bit goes down hole, check whether the size and model of the drill bit meet the requirements for use, whether the nozzle is installed properly, whether the size is correct, and whether the specification of the drill bit link thread matches the joint. The drill bit should go down in accordance with the prescribed operating procedures.

After the drill bit is in contact with the bottom of the well, it must be lightly pressed and turned slowly (the WOB is 10~20KN, and the rotational speed is 60r/min) for 30 minutes. Up to normal WOB drilling. If there is abnormal damage to the drill bit, please communicate with our factory, and keep the packaging box, qualification certificate and original trial data of the drill bit, and the drill bit after use (do not remove the nozzle). During the drilling process, the operation should be stable, and the drilling should be sent evenly to avoid drilling. The storage and transportation of drill bits should be placed in wooden boxes and packaging boxes of soft materials to avoid damage. The drill bit should be stored indoors at 10~30℃, kept dry, ventilated, and protected from sunlight and rain. Stored under these conditions, the shelf life is five years.

Types of PDC Bits
1. Matrix Body PDC Bits
“Matrix” is a very hard, rather brittle composite material comprising tungsten carbide grains metallurgical bonded with a softer, tougher, metallic binder. Matrix is desirable as a bit material, because its hardness is resistant to abrasion and
erosion. It is capable of withstanding relatively high compressive loads, but, compared with steel, has low resistance to impact loading. Matrix is relatively heterogeneous, because it is a composite material. Because the size and placement of the particles of tungsten carbide it contains vary (by both design and circumstances, its physical properties are slightly less predictable than steel. Matrix-body PDC bits are commonly preferred over steel-body bits for environments in which body erosion is likely to cause a bit to fail. For diamond-impregnated bits, only matrix-body construction can be used.

2. Steel Body PDC Bits
Steel is the opposite of matrix. It can of withstanding high impact loads, but is softer and lacks protective features. The strength and ductility of steel give steel-bit bodies high impact resistance. Steel bodies are considerably stronger than matrix bodies. A beneficial feature of steel bits is that they can easily be rebuilt a number of times because worn on damaged cutters can be replaced rather easily. This is a particular advantage for operators in low-cost drilling environments.

The solidity and strength of PDC bits lends them many advantages that a tricone bit can’t match.Most significantly, PDC bits have a longer lifespan which means they don’t need to be replaced as often as tricone bits. That reason alone explains much of the shift towards PDC bits for large scale projects.Additionally PDC bits can achieve a higher Rate Of Penetration than tricone bits under optimal circumstances. These factors combined mean that in formations where the rock type is established and the correct PDC bit is selected you can drill faster and further with a single PDC bit, bringing the cost per foot down below that of a tricone.

Even though tricone bits may be cheaper up front, in the right kind of project that can take full advantage of the features of a PDC bit, you will wind up saving money in the long run by going with PDC bits. Lastly as tricone bits consist of several different moving parts, it is possible to lose part of the tricone in the borehole, a danger that does not exist with PDC bits.

Advantage of matrix-body PDC bits

Fortunately, both steels and matrix are rapidly evolving, and their limitations are diminishing. As hard-facing materials improve, steel bits are becoming extremely well protected with materials that are highly resistant to abrasion and erosion. At the same time, the structural and wear-resisting properties of matrix materials are also rapidly improving, and the range of economic applications suitable for both types is growing.

Today’s matrix has little resemblance to that of even a few years ago. Tensile strengths and impact resistance have increased by at least 33%, and cutter braze strength has increased by ≈80%.
