Docosahexaenoic acid, or DHA, is an essential polyunsaturated fatty acid found in fish oil. C22H32O2 is a straight chain fatty acid with 22 carbon atoms and 6 double bonds. Animal glycerophospholipids contain unequal amounts of DHA, which can be generated by α-linolenic acid during metabolism in the body, but the amount of production is low, mainly through food supplementation.
It has a wide range of applications in food, health products and so on.
