A Cable Barrier,also known as cable guardrail,or wire rope safety barrier(WRSB),is a type of roadside or median safety traffic barrier/guard rail.It consists of pre-tensioned steel wire ropes mounted on posts that are driven into the ground. This barrier system composed with chiefly hot dipped galvanized three,four,five or six high tensile steel wire ropes,steel posts and terminals offering excellent rust resisting and corrosion resisting property.

【3x7 Galvanized Steel Wire Ropes】
Model of Pre-stretched 18mm/19mm diameter 3x7 galvanized steel wire ropes are commonly used in roadside cable guardrails.A 3x7 steel wire rope has three strands, each strand is made up of 7 identical wires wound around a center, meanwhile the wire ropes are galvanized for keeping the cable free of corrosion and rusting.

【Install of Cable Barriers】
1.Cable numbers: three or four cables are commonly used,five or six cables are used for reinforced guard railings.
2.Space distance:posts often installed with spacing from 6.3 to 32.6 ft,the longer spacing the higher deflection distance.
3.Tensioning: Cables are fixed on the post and tightened to specific tension as per local environment.After tension, the reflection will be reduces and the ability to preventing vehicles from skidding off the road can be enhanced. Normally the tensions values range approximately from 2,000lb to 9,000lb.

Zinc (galvanized) coated steel cable is the most common type of cable. It offers moderate corrosion resistance, and remains ductile over long periods when running over sheaves. Galvanized cable is stronger than stainless steel cable.
