Description Of Rubber O-rings
O-ring is a kind of rubber sealing ring with circular section, which was originally used as the sealing element of steam engine cylinder. Because rubber O-ring is cheap, simple to manufacture, reliable in function, and simple in installation requirements, O-ring is the most common mechanical design for sealing. The O-ring is subjected to a pressure of tens of megapascals (kilopounds). The O-ring can be used in static applications, or in dynamic applications where there is relative motion between components, such as the shaft of a rotary pump and the piston of a hydraulic cylinder.
