- Why Polyester
- People tend to prefer polyester bed nets which have a softer texture than polyethylene.
- In the Solomon Islands, an overwhelming lack of acceptability for polyethylene nets was expressed because the large mesh size was perceived to allow mosquitoes through and because the tendency to shorten and wrinkle with use made it difficult to keep the net securely tucked under sleeping mats.
- Nets made entirely of coarser netting may be misused, such as for fishing or as a bathing sponge

To prolong the useful life of a long lasting insecticidal mosquito net, the following are recommended:
1.Before first use, leave out for 24 hours.
2.Hang low enough to touch the ground or tuck under mattress.
3.Wash gently with soap and water. Do not wash with bleach.
4.After washing, hang to dry in the shade. Do not expose to direct sunlight.
5.Keep net away from naked flames.
6.Repair any holes as soon as possible.
