Product Description

The Bfix Limb Reconstruction System (LRS) is a series of modular monolateral external fixators to be used in reconstructive procedures for treatment of limb shortening, bone loss, open fractures, non-union and angular deformities.

The Bfix Limb Reconstruction System consists of an assembly of clamps(usually two or three)which can slide on a rigid rail and can be connected by compression-distraction units.

Micrometric Swivelling Clamp
Gradual angular correction up to ±24°
• Graduated scale indicating the amount of deformity corrected
• Clamp can be rotated without loss of stability as bone screws are fixed in the clamp and rotate together on a separate platform
• The CD-unit LRS connection facilitates correction by distributing the load across the 4 holes of the clamp
cover

Multiplanar Clamp
• Attached to either end of the rail
• For gradual correction of angular deformity in any plane up to ±35° (including translation up to a maximum of 12 mm)

T-Garches Clamp
Angulates in one plane and permits:
- tibial lengthening in the proximal metaphysis, with good control of valgus or varus deviation
- angular correction in the proximal tibia by hemicallotasis
Two lateral swivelling screw seats allow convergent siting of the outer screws
Use with 3 bone screws is advised for optimum stability
Ergonomic profile

Screw Insertion

Step 1. Assemble clamp templates on rail.

Step 2. Insert first screw in usual manner. Identify center of bone at most proximal seat of proximal clamp, using trocar inserted in screw guide.

Step 3. Second screw to be inserted will be most distal one. Check that satisfactory screw insertions can be achieved at chosen sites in proximal and distal clamps.

Step 4. Insert remaining screws.

Tension Osteotomy

Step 5. Remove template clamps with definitive ones; Place CD-unit between proximal and middle clamps; With middle clamp loosened, apply distraction;
Perform osteotomy using drill bit in corresponding drill guide.

Step 6. Connect holes with osteotome.

Step 7. Distract osteotomy to confirm complete.

Step 8. Distraction can be carried in next stage of application.

Dynamic Ring

• To be locked to the rail with its silicone cushion just in contact with the clamp which has been unlocked to enable dynamisation

• Permits controlled dynamisation of the segment concerned and thus acts as a safeguard against collapse

• Allows earlier conversion from a rigid to a dynamic mode and reduces the neutralisation period

The Sandwich Clamp is inserted between the base and the cover of a LRS Straight Clamp to raise the position of screw insertion above the rail. Two models of Sandwich Clamp are available, depending on the displacement caused by the curvature of the femur.

This clamp is useful when the femur is curved, to allow placement of screws in the middle clamp in the center of the bone.
