Strontium nitrate is an inorganic compound whose chemical formula is Sr(NO3)2.Strontium nitrate is a colorless or white isometric crystal, soluble in water, liquid ammonia, slightly soluble in anhydrous ethanol and acetone.When heating, oxygen is first released to form strontium nitrite, and further heating decomposes into strontium oxide, and nitrogen oxide and nitrogen dioxide gas are released.

Strontium nitrate is used to make red fireworks and signal lights for railways, waterways and airports.Used in the national defense industry to manufacture flares, flame tubes, tracer bullets.Also used in the manufacture of television tube red luminescent agent, optical glass.It is also used in medicine, making fluorescents.
