Chromium(III) sulfate is a compound of chromium and sulfate in which the ratio of chromium (in the +3 oxidation state) to sulfate is 2:3.
Chromium Sulfate is grey-blue liquid. It dissolves in water, difficult to dissolve in alcohol. Besides six hydrate, it includes different number of hydrate , can be up to 18 molecules hydrate at most.
Safety:
Contact with solutions of chromium(III) sulfate or inhalation of particles may cause irritation, but overall this compound is relatively non-toxic.
Applications and Usages:
The major applications of chromium sulfate include preparation of chromium dye mordant, used in ceramics and make leather. Used in chromium catalysts, green paint and oil.
Storage:
Chromium Sulfate should be stored in a low temperature, ventilated, dry warehouse. Separate storage with reducing agent, organic matter. Immediate steps should be taken to limit its spread to the environment.
