Quartz Processing
High-purity quartz is the raw material of high-end quartz products and the material basis of high-end products in the silicon industry. It is widely used in photovoltaics, electronic information, optical communications and electric light sources. It has an important position and role in strategic emerging industries of new materials and new energy.
Quartz Raw Material
There are only a few raw ores in the world that can produce high-purity quartz sand for high-tech industries. There are many types of silica resources and large storage capacity. Quartzite, quartz sandstone and vein quartz are the main raw materials for producing high-purity quartz sand.
(1) Quartzite
Quartzite is a metamorphic rock dominated by quartz. It is formed by the metamorphism of quartz sandstone and
siliceous rock, where the silica content is above 85%.

Quartz sandstone is a sedimentary rock formed by cementing quartz particles, and its silica content is as high as 95%.
(3) Vein quartz
Vein quartz is formed by filling silicon thermal fluid secreted by underground magma into rock fissures, and its silica content is as high as 99%.
Physical Quartz Processing
1. Washing-classifying-desilting
In the quartz sand beneficiation process, the fine-grained grade with a particle size of less than 0.1 mm is usually called slime. For quartz sand with a large amount of clay and ore mud, as the particle size becomes finer, the grade of silica gradually decreases, while impurities such as iron and aluminum rise instead. Using water washing-classifying-desilting method can effectively improve quartz grade.

For the thin film iron and adhesion impurities on the surface of quartz sand, the effect of water washing-grading desilting is poor. This requires the removal of the thin film iron and adhesion impurities suitable for the sand surface by means of mechanical force and the abrasive force between the sand particles. After the grading desilting, a better impurity removal effect can be achieved.

This setup is for silica sand process, the size range of the silica sand is 0-10mm, main machines as below Hopper+electromagnetic feeder, belt conveyor, rotary trommel screen, +0.5mm to ball mill, 0-0.5mm to spiral sand wash machine, spiral chute, slurry pump, wet plate magnetic separator, dewatering screen
1. The hopper+electromagnetic feeder for feeding materials to the rotary trommel screen automatically, you only need to load the materials to the hopper by truck or excavator or else as you want.
2. The rotary trommel screen is for washing the silica sand and separating the size 0-0.5mm to the spiral sand wash machine, +0.5mm to the ball mill.
3. The ball mill is for grinding the +0.5mm size to 0-0.5mm then to the spiral sand wash machine.
4. The spiral sand wash machine is for washing and getting rid of the sticky clay in the silica sand, then to the spiral chute. 5. The slurry pump transports the clean materials to the spiral chute to separate the silica sand from other heavy materials.
6. The wet plate magnetic separator is for separating the magnetic minerals in the silica sand, making the silica sand more purity.
7. The dewatering screen is for drying the silica sand and recycling the water for the machines.
8. The capacity for this washing plant can be customized as per request such as 10tph, 50tph,100tph, etc
Notes： if the materials are not much sticky, will not need the spiral sand wash machine, and the quantity of the machines just for your reference, will depend on your capacity.
The spiral chute will normally make two stages, the middle concentrate from the first stage spiral chute will to the second stage to concentrate again, that will make sure a higher grade and also release the workload of the magnetic separator.
