Viña Costeira was born in 1968 as a result of the illusion of a group of visionaries and rebels who broke with the wine trends of the time in order to recover the historical grape varieties of Galicia: Loureira, Godello, Albariño and Treixadura, among others.

From the very beginning, tradition and innovation have always been present at Viña Costeira. Our wines are framed in the D.O. oldest in Galicia and possibly one of the oldest in Europe: the Ribeiro. It is located in the basins of the river Miño and its tributaries Arnoia and Avia. It is a territory where thermal springs are a differentiating feature, making the area one of the most important thermal tourism destinations in Europe.

The winery also has vineyards in the D.O. Ribeiro (about 80 hectares owned and more than 1,500 haectares owned by its partners) and a winery with the same name of Viña Costeira in the DO Valdeorras. In the Ribeiro, the vineyards are distributed between the towns of Ribadavia, Cenlle and Leiro, in a valley formed by the Miño rivers and their tributaries Avia and Arnoia. A privileged situation that favors cultivation by having ideal weather conditions. The soils, of granitic origin and facing south, are arranged in "coastal areas", which is the name that historically was given to the best slopes exposed to the sun, where

the best grapes are grown. In Valdeorras, our vineyards are located around the winding Bibei river.

The company currently has 3 wineries - Viña Costeira in DO Ribeiro, Pazo de Toubes in DO Ribeiro (it dates from 1742, with 9 hectares owned) and Viña Costeira in DO Valdeorras. We are also developing a line of Albariño in the DO Rias Baixas in Salnes, with a total production of 20,000 bottles.
