1530 Colles Fracture Reduction and Casting Technique Trainer

This multi-discipline trainer allows users to incorporate manual reduction with real time fluoroscopic visualization.
The reduction forces required are similar to that of a live patient allowing the users to gauge and feel the energy
required for adequate bone alignment.

FEATURES:
- Soft tissue arm model with radiopaque coated bones and a multi-position universal bed rail clamp allowing the user to train in the most common patient positions.

- Also includes an adapter plate for set up with a table mounted clamp, a video tutorial presented by the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, and an instructor’s guide on lesson plan proficiency goals and instructor training tips.

FUNCTIONS:
- The tactile hands-on feel and real-time imagery enhance the user experience. The reduction model allows palpation of internal structures through the soft tissue before and during reduction.

- Traditional roll on casting with manual reduction with or without finger traps can be performed.

- The radius bone has alignment guide lines to allow the user to assess the accuracy of the reduction after cast application. Casting materials can be removed using standard cast removal techniques.

The #1530 trainer was designed and developed by Sawbones® in collaboration with The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia.

About Us

The company’s first products were prepreg composite parts for the sporting goods industry. Soon a connection was made with Dr.Frederick Lippert who was the Chief of Orthopedics at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Seattle and Associate Professor Orthopedics at the University of Washington School of Medicine.

Dr. Lippert was concerned that the orthopaedic resident training programs did not include enough hands-on training. Lippert’s vision was to have a plastic artificial bone that cut, drilled, and felt like real bone to be used to practice all the various procedures of orthopaedic surgery. With the aid of Dr. Lippert’s enthusiasm and guidance, the right combination of materials was formulated at PRL and SAWBONES was born.

The company, headquartered on Vashon Island, now has over 100,000 square feet of manufacturing space and provides Sawbones products to customers all over the world. In addition, we have a sales and customer service office and warehouse located in Malmoe Sweden - Sawbones Europe AB - servicing all of our Europe, Middle East and Africa customers.
