Description
Rhizobium japonicum
Rhizobium japonicum is a nodulating type of micro-organism associating symbiotically with the root of the legume plants. It produces nodules and multiplies in it. By remaining inside the nodules it fixes atmospheric nitrogen. The rhizobium bacteria infect the legume root and form root nodules (also form stem nodules) within which they reduce molecular nitrogen to ammonia which is readily utilized by the plants to produce valuable proteins,vitamins and other nitrogen containing components.
